LifeLine Foods
Lifeline Foods is a corn processing unit situated in St. Joseph, in Missouri. Its manufacturing unit is set up in 7, 50,000 sq ft in an area spanning 38 acres making it the largest one in the United States. It was in the year that 1996 that 20 like minded agriculturists got together to set up such a unit to strengthen the agricultural economy. LifeLine Foods have a wide rage of products such as dry corn, masa flours and many other such specialty products. They are available in both yellow and white corn varieties.
The company’s main intention is to produce and process grains which would satisfy the consumer by providing them with a very safe and healthy product which is of the highest quality. The products can be put into four categories namely:
- Dry Corn Milled Products: There are essentially four types of products in this category. Firstly, the Yellow Snack Meal 3100, is mainly used for making snack foods and especially popular in the breakfast food industry. Secondly there is the Yellow Corn Meal 3125; ideally used as coatings on muffins and other breads. It is very popular to make different bakery products. The third variety is the Yellow Corn Comes which is used to dust oven pans in bakeries and is also widely used in the processed foods industry. The there is the Yellow Corn Flour 3145; largely used as a binding and thickening agent in the pastry, cookie and meat industry. This works as a very good agent in the fermenting process.
- Masa Flour: There are mainly three kinds of flours in both yellow and white corn. The Table Tortilla Flour is ideal for use as a thickening agent in Mexican soups and sauces. It is also used in the baking industry to give texture and flavor to the products. The Snack Flours, the perfect flour to make tortilla chips and tacos and like the table tortilla flour it can be used in soups and sauces as a thickening ingredient. Lastly there is the Specialty Flour which is used in making tamales and also used to add flavor to the products in the baking business.
- Extruded Products: Both the Yellow and White Binder/ Drill starch, being very high quality, works effectively as a control ingredient in case of fluid-loss. The Yellow Binder High pH is very good for many industrial requirements. The high pH content accelerates the development of polymers when they are hydrated.
- Specialty Products: There are mainly four types. The Muffin Coating Mix 3139 prevents the dough from sticking and also the muffins do not develop molds on the surface when treated with this mix. The Ultra Fine Yellow Corn Flour 3166 helps in mixing the dough well without forming lumps. The Pregelatinized Yellow Corn Flour 5305 and Pregelatinized White Corn Flour 5405 acts as a very good binding and thickening agent.
